LEXEMES DENOTING UNITS OF MEASUREMENT IN THE ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract

The study of lexical terms related to units of measurement in languages plays a crucial role in understanding how different cultures quantify and express numerical values. English and Uzbek languages, with their distinct linguistic structures and historical influences, offer a rich landscape for investigating lexemes denoting units of measurement. By exploring the semantic and morphological characteristics of these lexemes in both languages, we can gain insights into the cultural, historical, and social factors that have shaped the ways in which measurement units are conceptualized and articulated. This research aims to contribute to the field of linguistics by providing a comparative analysis of how English and Uzbek languages represent units of measurement lexically, shedding light on the underlying patterns and ideologies that govern the expression of quantity and magnitude in these languages.
