SPECIFIC FEATURES OF VENTRICULAR AND SUPRAVENTRICULAR ARRHYTHMIAS IN HYPOTHYROIDISM

Abstract

Hypothyroidism, a state of thyroid hormone deficiency, is known to affect cardiovascular function through multiple mechanisms, including alterations in cardiac electrophysiology, myocardial contractility, and autonomic regulation. While bradyarrhythmias are more commonly associated with hypothyroidism, both ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias may also occur due to metabolic and structural myocardial changes. This review aims to summarize the pathophysiological mechanisms, electrocardiographic characteristics, and clinical implications of ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias in hypothyroid patients, emphasizing their diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
