DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PERTHES DISEASE IN CHILDREN
Abstract
Perthes disease, or Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, is a pediatric orthopedic disorder characterized by avascular necrosis of the femoral head. This article reviews the etiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, and current treatment strategies for children affected by the disease. Emphasis is placed on early detection through clinical evaluation and imaging, as well as the role of conservative management and surgical interventions in preserving hip function and preventing long-term deformities. The prognosis varies with age and disease severity, highlighting the importance of individualized care and multidisciplinary management.
