Disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, the most significant of which is diabetes mellitus (DM), represent the most important social problem. The comparison of epidemiological data on prediabetes looks more problematic, since there are at least 5 definitions proposed by various professional communities for this term today, and the prevalence rates vary widely depending on whether its composite criteria are used (fasting glycemia disorder (NGN), impaired glucose tolerance, elevated HbA1c levels). separately or in combination [2].
