MICRO-GENRES IN UZBEK-LANGUAGE SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNICATION
Abstract
Social media platforms have transformed contemporary communication by introducing new, small-scale genre forms known as micro-genres. In Uzbek-language digital discourse, these micro-genres function as essential units of meaning-making and social interaction. This article explores how social media communication gives rise to interconnected micro-genres such as status updates, captions, comments, hashtags, and emoji-based expressions, examining their linguistic, pragmatic, and discursive characteristics. The study argues that these micro-genres operate not in isolation but as an integrated communicative system shaped by platform affordances and sociocultural norms.
