A PHILOLOGICAL APPROACH TO THE HISTORICAL AND STRUCTURAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ENGLISH AND GERMAN

Abstract

This article states some differences and a few similarities between two languages namely the English language and the German. Notwithstanding that both of them are parts of the same German branch of the Indio-European languages and share historical roots and a number of disparities can be illustrated provided compared in several aspects. Even though both languages have evolved over centuries each shows originality and demonstrates a distinctive grammar system, vocabularies, and pronunciation. In this article overview of simple linguistic features, grammatical distinction and contrast in the development of the languages is presented. The aim of this article is to explore the relationship between the English and German languages so that being fluent in one can encourage learning of the other.

Both English and German are widely spoken languages being considered as global ones. English and German both major global languages share deep roots as west Germanic languages evident in similar core vocabulary (like house/Haus) and grammar but have diverged due to separate cultural evolution significant migration and borrowing from other languages creating distinct yet realistic system.
