A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO THE EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF VASOMOTOR RHINITIS
Abstract
Vasomotor rhinitis (VMR) is a prevalent condition causing significant nasal airway obstruction and remains one of the most common problems encountered in outpatient and primary care settings. This article reviews the two principal clinical forms of vasomotor rhinitis—allergic and neurovegetative—with special attention to practical therapeutic strategies suitable for general practitioners and internists. Modern management includes pharmacological therapy, physiotherapeutic methods, and surgical options when indicated. An individualized, stepwise, and systematic treatment plan is essential, guided by symptom severity, duration, patient-specific factors, and response to initial conservative measures. The article emphasizes the value of a comprehensive, multimodal approach to achieve optimal symptom control, enhance quality of life, and prevent complications related to chronic nasal obstruction.
