USING EXPLANATORY DICTIONARIES TO DEVELOP LEXICAL LITERACY
Abstract
This article examines the role of explanatory dictionaries in developing students' lexical literacy. Lexical literacy is an important component of language proficiency, as it ensures the correct understanding and use of words in speech. In the modern educational system, the use of explanatory dictionaries is particularly important as an effective means of vocabulary development and the development of linguistic thinking.
This article examines the theoretical foundations of using explanatory dictionaries, as well as their practical application in the educational process. Particular attention is paid to developing students' skills in independent work with lexical sources, as well as their ability to analyze the meaning of words and use them in various communicative situations.
The results of the study show that the systematic use of explanatory dictionaries contributes to the expansion of vocabulary, improved comprehension of texts, and enhanced speech culture. Furthermore, the use of modern teaching technologies in combination with traditional dictionary methods significantly improves learning effectiveness.
