COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE EXTRACTION PROPERTIES OF ETHYLENE GLYCOL AND DIMETHYL SULFOXIDE IN BENZENE RECOVERY
Abstract
This study investigates the process of extractive dearomatization of distillates rich in aromatic hydrocarbons. The effect of solvents-ethylene glycol (EG) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) – on the efficiency of aromatic hydrocarbon extraction was analyzed. Experimental results demonstrated that the optimal solvent-to-feed ratio is 1.5:1, achieving maximum extraction efficiencies of 68.57% for DMSO and 62.86% for EG. The application of this process not only extends the operational lifetime of pyrolysis furnaces but also enables the recovery of valuable aromatic products with high commercial value.
