LINGUA-COGNITIVE AND LINGUA-CULTUROLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE CONCEPT OF "WATER" IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract

This article provides a comparative analysis of the lingua-cognitive and lingua-culturological features of the concept of "water" in the English and Uzbek languages. As one of the most ancient and universal concepts in human cognition, the concept of "water" expresses multi-layered meanings such as life, purity, blessing, renewal, and danger. The article highlights the theoretical foundations of the concept, its nominative-communicative field, lexical and phraseological verbalizers, national-cultural characteristics, as well as similarities and differences between the English and Uzbek languages. The study reveals that while the concept of "water" shares a common cognitive core in both languages, its peripheral layers exhibit unique semantic-pragmatic differences shaped by national culture, historical experience, and social consciousness.
