ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES AND HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF TRADITIONAL COURTYARD HOUSES IN SAMARKAND

Abstract

This article examines the formation, architectural and compositional characteristics, and historical development of traditional courtyard houses in Samarkand. It analyzes how courtyard layouts adapt to local climatic conditions, the traditional building materials employed, and the architectural principles reflected in their design. Practical recommendations are also provided regarding the preservation and contemporary use of these historic residential structures within modern urban development.
