PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL FEATURES OF DEVELOPING ASSESSMENT COMPETENCIES OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN MODERN EDUCATIONAL CONDITIONS

Abstract

This article analyzes the psychological and pedagogical features of developing assessment competencies of primary school teachers in modern educational conditions. In primary education, assessment is not limited to determining pupils’ knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is also considered an important pedagogical process that influences pupils’ personal development, learning motivation, self-confidence, independent thinking, and self-assessment skills. The article discusses the psychological characteristics of primary school pupils, the impact of assessment on their emotional state and learning activity, the teacher’s assessment culture, reflective approach, and the pedagogical conditions for organizing developmental assessment. Special attention is paid to individual approach, pedagogical diagnostics, constructive feedback, criterion-based assessment, formative assessment, and psychological support in developing assessment competence among primary school teachers.
