THE ROLE OF FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT IN ENHANCING LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Abstract
Formative assessment has become a cornerstone in language education, enabling instructors to monitor and improve students’ language skills throughout the learning process. In contrast to summative assessments that evaluate outcomes at the end of a course, formative assessments focus on regular feedback and continuous improvement. This article is devoted to considering the key benefits of formative assessment in developing language proficiency, emphasizing its role in motivating learners, finding and analyzing specific learning needs, as well as fostering a supportive learning environment
