THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF TEACHING MATHEMATICS IN PRIMARY GRADES

Abstract

This article is dedicated to exploring the theoretical foundations of teaching mathematics in primary grades. The purpose of the study is to identify effective pedagogical approaches and methods that enhance students’ interest in mathematics and develop their knowledge and skills. The article analyzes the effectiveness of teaching mathematics in primary grades based on the principles of pedagogical psychology, didactics, and methodology. The study employed pedagogical observation, tests, and surveys, and the collected data were analyzed using both statistical and qualitative methods.

The results indicate that interactive and visual methods play a crucial role in developing students’ mathematical skills. Average test scores and classroom participation levels consistently improved across grades. Moreover, students’ interest in the subject increased annually. The findings provide a scientific basis for developing methodological recommendations for teachers and effectively organizing the mathematics teaching process in primary grades.
