Abstract

The physical readiness of cadets is a crucial component of professional training in higher military educational institutions, directly influencing combat effectiveness and operational reliability. This study aimed to substantiate the pedagogical foundations of hand-to-hand combat training as a means of improving cadets’ physical preparedness. A pedagogical and experimental research design was employed, involving 60 male cadets aged 18–22 years, who were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in a 12-week pedagogically structured hand-to-hand combat training program, while the control group followed a traditional physical training curriculum. Physical fitness tests, specialized combat performance assessments, and pedagogical observations were used to evaluate training effectiveness. The results demonstrated significantly greater improvements in strength, speed, endurance, coordination, and combat technique accuracy in the experimental group compared to the control group. The findings confirm that hand-to-hand combat training, when organized on sound pedagogical principles, enhances both physical and professionally important qualities of cadets. The study provides scientific justification for integrating structured hand-to-hand combat programs into the physical training system of higher military educational institutions.
