FROM FACT TO FICTION: TYPOLOGY OF AUTHORS IN PROSE WITH A DOCUMENTARY BEGINNING

Abstract

In the article "From Fact to Fiction: Typology of Authors in Prose with a Documentary Beginning," the author examines the characteristics of the authorial image in literary works that combine elements of documentary and artistic fiction. The relevance of the topic is underscored by the growing interest in documentary prose and autobiographical texts, highlighting the necessity of analyzing the author within the interaction of fact and fiction. The aim of the research is to develop a typology of authorial images in prose with a documentary beginning and to explore how such works reinterpret the classical notion of authorship. The study identifies key features of documentary prose, distinctions between "fact" and "fiction," and analyzes three types of authorial images: the "Witness" (objective observer), the "Narrator" (subjective interpreter), and the "Myth-Maker" (artistic transformer). Examples from contemporary literature illustrate these images and emphasize trends characteristic of documentary prose, allowing for an understanding of the genre's influence on the author's role. In conclusion, the article proposes perspectives for further exploration of the impact of documentary prose on world literature and intercultural studies.
